Meet Our New Faculty Members
This fall, Nazarian College welcomed eight new faculty members across accounting, business law, finance, financial planning and insurance, and systems and operations management. Each brings a wealth of professional and research experience, enhancing hands-on learning and preparing students for real-world success.
Katie Boylen – Accounting
Boylen joined Nazarian College as assistant professor of accounting after earning her doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A certified public accountant, Boylen received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and University of Notre Dame, respectively. She also brings with her corporate experience from her work with PwC, adding real-world insight to her teaching and mentoring.
Yumeng Gao – Finance, Financial Planning and Insurance
Gao is an assistant professor in the finance, financial planning and insurance department. She holds a doctorate in sustainable finance from University College Dublin and was a postdoctoral associate at Yale University. Her research interests are in sustainable finance, corporate finance, cryptocurrency and options.
Michael Shin – Finance, Financial Planning and Insurance
Shin joins the college’s finance, financial planning and insurance department with a doctorate in economics from the University of California, Irvine. He served as a lecturer at the University of Sydney Business School prior to joining Nazarian College. His research fields include stock market participation, financial economics, household finance, microfinance and inflation.
Matthew Reid Krell – Business Law
Krell is an assistant professor of business law. He earned a bachelor’s degree from George Washington University, a J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law, and a doctorate in political science from the University of Alabama. He practiced law for several years while also serving as a visiting assistant professor of political science at Vassar College and a visiting assistant professor of law at Washburn University prior to joining the Nazarian College faculty.
Swapan Ghosh – Management
Ghosh is assistant professor of management. He previously was an assistant professor in management at Michigan State University and adjunct assistant professor at Menlo College and Tecnologico De Monterrey. He earned his doctorate in strategic management from Loughborough University and has an MBA and industrial engineering background. His teaching and research focus on AI-driven business and digital strategies.
Yaewon Yoo – Systems and Operations Management
Yoo is an assistant professor in the systems and operations management department. She joined Nazarian College from the California State University Channel Islands where she was assistant professor of business. She earned her doctorate in industrial engineering at Arizona State University and was a postdoctoral fellow at The Johns Hopkins University.
Aman Goswami – Systems and Operations Management
Goswami is an assistant professor in the systems and operations management department. He holds a doctorate in supply chain management from Rutgers Business School. Prior to joining the college, Goswami served as a lecturer at Rutgers Business School and a data scientist for retail-focused corporations. His areas of interest include supply chain operations, machine learning, predictive modeling and enterprise analytics.
Ziyang Zhang – Systems and Operations Management
Zhang joins Nazarian College’s systems and operations management faculty with a doctorate in information system and business analytics from Florida International University. He received a master of science in information system and operation management from the University of Florida. His academic focus bridges analytics and information systems, giving students a strong foundation in data interpretation and technology-enabled decision support.
