National Epilepsy Awareness Month
November is dedicated to raising awareness of epilepsy, reducing stigma, and supporting those who live with this neurological condition. Epilepsy causes recurring seizures that can affect awareness, movement, or behavior. About 3.4 million Americans live with active epilepsy, and 1 in 26 people will develop it in their lifetime.
This year, the Epilepsy Foundation invites everyone to be “All In” for epilepsy awareness. You can show your support by wearing purple, learning seizure first aid, and sharing stories that help build understanding. Even small actions can make a big difference.
If your child has been diagnosed with epilepsy, they may qualify for Regional Center services. Visit NLACRC.org to learn more.
We’re proud of Samantha (Sam) Moreno, Family Support Provider at our Lancaster office, who lives successfully with epilepsy and shares her story to inspire others. Sam’s experience reminds us that with knowledge, compassion, and community, people with epilepsy can live full and empowered lives.
