Celebrating Ron Klemp’s 40 Years of Service

Secondary Education faculty member Ron Klemp was honored on May 2 for 40 years of service to CSUN. Ron’s time at CSUN goes back even further: he graduated from San Fernando Valley State College in 1971, then earned his teaching credential, reading-specialist credential, and master’s degree in reading, all at CSUN. Ron taught in LAUSD from 1973 to 2009. In 1986, he began teaching credential courses for CSUN’s Department of Secondary Education. He has also taught at California Lutheran University, National University, and Santa Monica College, and has authored many articles and books on adolescent literacy and classroom management. Ron says, “I feel privileged to have been part of the CSUN Matador family for all these years.” But comments from his students indicate that the privilege is all theirs. Representing the admiration of the thousands of teacher candidates Ron has taught over 40 years, one candidate wrote, “Professor Klemp is the epitome of the ideal professor. Smart, capable, savvy, knowledgeable, funny, caring, supportive, and inspirational.”
