CSUN Alumnus Gagik Galfayan Named a 2027 California Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to CSUN alumnus Gagik Galfayan, who was recently named one of California’s five 2027 Teachers of the Year!
Gagik is the only educator from Los Angeles County, and has a special connection to the Michael D. Eisner College of Education.
Gagik came to the United States from Armenia in 1995, and attended public schools in Glendale as a child. He later came to CSUN to earn several degrees, including a B.A. in Liberal Studies, M.A. degrees in both Elementary and Secondary Education, and Multiple- and Single-Subject teaching credentials.
He is now in his 14th year of teaching, working in the same school district that helped shape him as a child, and is passionate about supporting immigrant students and English learners.
We are proud of Gagik, his work in the community, and his relationship with CSUN!
