Graduate student Samantha Ellis is awarded prestigious NSF fellowship
Congratulations to MS Chemistry student Sammie (Scott) Ellis, who has been awarded a NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (GRFP) for her proposal, titled “Discover novel supercomposition materials by deep learning”. This is a prestigious fellowship, only awarded to ~15% of the applicants each year, worth $37,000 annually over three years. Sammie plans to use the award to a bridge between her MS and a PhD program. Her proposed work will help to accelerate the discovery of materials critical to clean energy, defense, and quantum technology, including superconductors, superhard solids, and high-energy-density compounds. Well, done, Sammie – we are very proud of you!
