Dr. Melikyan has published a new article
Melikyan group has published a research paper in the journal Organometallics (https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs.organomet.4c00088). It is titled “Cobalt-Complexed Acetylenic Tetrads, a Molecular Scaffold for Quadruple Ionic Functionalization Reactions” and coauthored by former graduate (Nicole Babayans) and undergraduate (Natalie Kalpakyan, Claire Herrera) students. The paper describes a novel synthetic strategy coined “quadruple ionic functionalization reactions” with the mechanism being established by DFT computational studies (Pavel Rublev, Nikolay Tkachenko, Alexander Boldyrev / Utah State University). Given the topological and functional diversity of the molecular assemblies now within an easy reach, their applications in various fields of science can be envisioned (organic and organometallic chemistry; drug development; materials science).
