Minimum Wage Increase for Exempt employees effective January 1, 2025
Dear Principal Investigators:
Effective January 1, 2025, the state of California will be increasing the minimum wage. While the current wage for all TUC non-exempt employees is already higher than the state minimum requirement, we want to inform you that TUC will be adjusting salaries for employees who are in exempt classification.
Exempt employees are positions who are not entitled to receive overtime pay, and under California law, must earn a fixed monthly salary of at least twice the state minimum wage for full-time work. As a result, the minimum annual salary for exempt employees at TUC will be $68,640 starting January 1, 2025.
TUC Human Resources will reach out to all PIs who will be impacted by this change. Please contact tuchr@csun.edu if you have any questions regarding classification of the employees working in your grant, and please reach out to your Post-Award liaison if you have questions regarding rebudgeting in your sponsored project.
