TLCC Welcomes Renowned Literacy Researcher Maryanne Wolf
On Tuesday, October 20th, CSUN’s Teaching, Learning and Counseling Consortium (TLCC), led by Dr. Vanessa Goodwin (SPED) welcomed renowned literacy researcher, scholar, and author, Maryanne Wolf. Maryanne met with SPED and EED faculty during an informal roundtable session, and then toured and observed one of the center’s housed in the TLCC, the L.A. Times Literacy Center, directed by Dr. Dominic Grasso (EED). Maryanne was able to observe the exciting new EED pilot literacy course, focusing on early literacy skills, and pre-service teachers gaining practical classroom experience by working with local elementary aged students, supervised by CSUN faculty, as part of their course work! Maryanne was thrilled to observe the pilot course/program in action, and looks forward to future collaboration and partnership opportunities with CSUN!
