Sherry Bai Joins Nazarian College as Associate Dean, Bringing Extensive Administrative and Research Experience

NORTHRIDGE, California—The David Nazarian College of Business and Economics recently welcomed Shuming (Sherry) Bai as associate dean.

Bai holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a specialization in finance, an MBA and a Master of Arts in English as a Second Language from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She previously served as dean of the College of Business at McNeese State University in Louisiana and as a professor of finance and associate dean at Eastern Washington University. She also spent part of her academic career at the University of Texas Permian Basin.

“I am pleased to welcome Dr. Bai to Nazarian College. Her enthusiasm and nearly 30 years of experience as a faculty member, researcher and administrative leader will be instrumental as we navigate the opportunities and complexities of today’s educational environment,” says Chandra Subramaniam, dean of Nazarian College.

Subramaniam notes that Bai joins Nazarian College at an exciting time as it explores opportunities in AI, moves forward with plans for a new building and expands its graduate and entrepreneurial programming.

“With the support of our dedicated faculty and staff, Dr. Bai will be instrumental in helping us drive innovation, enhance student opportunities and strengthen our impact in the community,” he says.

Bai says she is looking forward to helping further the school’s success and collegial culture.

Bai has received numerous professional awards and recognitions. Her most recent accolades can be found in the national publication Newswire and at Thrive SWLA, a regional magazine in Southwest Louisiana.
