Reminder: Minimum Wage Increased to $16.90 | January 1
Effective January 1, 2026, the California State minimum wage increased to $16.90 per hour. Salary adjustments will be applied to all active employees currently paid below the new minimum wage.
These adjustments will be processed centrally by Human Resources. No departmental action or additional data entry is required for minimum wage compliance.
CSUN State Employees follow the California State minimum wage guidelines:
- Current minimum wage rate: $16.90 per hour
- Current Student Assistant salary range: $16.90 – $24.00 per hour
Please Note: If a department wants to provide an increase to a student employee’s hourly rate outside of the minimum wage adjustment, additional AVP or VP approval is required. Departments should coordinate with their divisional HR/Finance offices to initiate the appropriate action.
Campus Auxiliary – The University Corporation (TUC):
- Effective January 1, 2026, the minimum wage rate increased to $16.90 per hour
Campus Auxiliaries – Associated Students (AS) and University Student Union (USU) follow the Los Angeles City minimum wage guidelines.
- Effective July 1, 2025, the LA City minimum wage increased to $17.87 per hour
