Dimpal Jain Presents at Conference & Wins Awards

Dimpal Jain, core faculty in the Doctoral Program for Educational Leadership and Professor in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies co-presented with 2 student alumni and 1 current doctoral student at a hybrid conference hosted by the International Association of Maternal Action and Scholarship held in Montreal, Canada. Dr. Zeina Otaky-Ramirez, Dr. Cindy Phu, and doctoral candidate Cherry Lai presented their panel entitled: First-Generation Mothers of Color in Academia: Complicating the Notion of Motherhood and Labor.

Additionally, she was, along with Dr. Carrie Saetermoe from Psychology and Amber Bui from the Health Equity Research and Education (HERE) Center were awarded a Campus Quality Fee grant entitled “Peer Mentors for STEM Transfer Students: CSUN Badge Transfer Project.” This grant supports the work that Dr. Jain conducts as a faculty liaison to the Badge Project, a peer-mentorship program that supports transfer students as they transition to CSUN.
