Deadline for All Students to Drop Online

NEW! Earlier Deadline to Drop/Swap/Change Grading Basis Online

Sept. 11, 2026, the THIRD Friday of fall 2026 instruction, is the last day for all students — undergraduate and graduate — to drop/swap classes or change grading basis online using self-service registration. (Undergraduate and second bachelor’s degree students previously had through the end of the fourth week, but not now.)

Fall 2026 Details for All Students

• Access to drop, swap, and/or change grading basis online ends Sept. 11 at 11:59 p.m.
• To drop/swap/change grading basis after Sept. 11, you must request approval. See required forms below.
• You may continue to add with a permission number from the instructor through Nov. 13.

If possible, finalize your schedule by Friday, Sept. 18, when recorded enrollments are considered official.

Required Forms

Undergraduate Students

You’re an undergraduate student if you’re working toward a first or second bachelor’s degree. Please follow these procedures and timeline:

• Week 4: After Sept. 11 through Friday, Sept. 18, you must request approval to drop (withdraw), swap or change the basis of grading using the 4th Week Change of Schedule Petition for Undergraduate Students Web Form.
• Week 5 and beyond: Beginning Monday, Sept. 21, complete the appropriate Late Change in Academic Schedule for Undergraduate and Second Bachelor’s Students Forms.

Graduate Students

You’re a graduate student if you’re working toward a master’s, doctorate, credential or certificate. Please follow these procedures and timeline:

• After Sept. 11, you must request approval to withdraw, including medical withdrawals, using the “Late Change in Academic Schedule” form at Graduate Evaluations: Forms.
• Use the same Graduate Evaluations form through the end of the semester and beyond.

Precautions for Reducing Units

It is the your responsibility as a student to withdraw from classes. Reducing the number of enrolled units can impact your eligibility for financial aid, campus housing, international student status and more. Important Fee Payment Information:

• If you drop all classes (completely withdraw) before the 60% point of instruction, you might be eligible for a prorated refund.
• If you add classes at any time, you may owe additional tuition and other fees. Be sure to check your student account balance in the CSUN Portal.
