Nonrestrictive Registration Begins, Fall 2026

Nonrestrictive Registration for fall 2026 classes begins Monday, July 6, 2026. No appointment is required for matriculated CSUN students.

• Matriculated students are enrolled in CSUN degree or university certificate programs.
• Nonmatriculated students enrolling through the Tseng College (extension), please visit Open University.

• Undergraduate student advising
• Graduate student advising

About Nonrestrictive Registration

During Nonrestrictive Registration, you can:

• Add open classes without permission (restricted classes always require permission).
• Wait-list for closed classes — up to 13 units.
• Nonrestrictive Registration ends Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, the day before weekday classes begin.

NEW! Starting Fall 2026…

• Repeating courses for the purpose of grade forgiveness or grade averaging is allowed as soon as your enrollment appointment arrives. Confirm with your academic advisor that repeating a course is your best option.
• The last day to drop or swap classes online (and the last day to change grading basis for undergraduates) is the end of Week 3: Friday, Sept. 11, 2026. This applies to ALL students. See Late Registration Begins, Fall 2026.
