Dr. Jose I. Rodríguez is Professor of Communication Studies at Long Beach State. His research is published in Text & Performance Quarterly, Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development, Western Journal of Black Studies, Communication Research, and Communication Education. Dr. Rodríguez has also received awards for the quality of his research from the National Communication Association (NCA), the International Communication Association (ICA), and the Association of Teacher Educators (ATE). His worked has been featured on ABC7, KMEX, and TEDxCSULB. In the community, Dr. Rodríguez is an active seminar trainer and consultant, with over 20 years of experience, partnering with organizations to create inclusive cultures for equitable change.

The webinar discusses original research, demonstrating how individuals can respond empathically in conversations with diverse others to cultivate compassion in organizational settings. With an empathy-based framework as a foundation, the session demonstrates how individuals can respond humanely in conversations with members of different cultural groups, and thereby, promote ethical conduct, compassion, and proactive social change in organizations.
