Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Part 1: Building Foundations for Inclusivity Session Title: “Building Foundations for Inclusivity” Description: This interactive, live instructor-led training session by SkillPath delves into the fundamentals of creating an inclusive workplace. Participants will explore key concepts of Equal Employment Opportunity, defining diversity and inclusion, and encouraging ideas to develop habits of inclusivity. This session is for learners of all levels, from beginners to those looking to reinforce their understanding of DEIA principles. Course Content: • Module 1: Equal Employment Opportunity o Understand federal, state, and local employment laws and organizational policies. o Differentiate between unlawful discrimination and harassment. o Recognize protected classes and the nature of unlawful harassment, including sexual harassment. • Module 2: Define Diversity and Inclusion o Discuss the attributes and traits of diverse groups. o Identify the value of diversity and qualities of inclusive workplace cultures. o Consider diverse perspectives for organizational success. • Module 3: Develop Habits of Inclusivity o Explore the role of affinity and employee resource groups in promoting inclusivity. o Discuss the impact of preconceived ideas and ways to foster curiosity and respect for other cultures. Learning Outcomes: • Gain a comprehensive understanding of Equal Employment Opportunity laws. • Define key concepts of diversity and inclusion and their organizational impact. • Develop practical habits and strategies to foster inclusivity within the workplace. Who Should Attend: This session is suitable for all levels of learners, from beginners to established professionals. Learning Format: The session includes a lecture, interactive discussions, and breakout activities to facilitate engagement and deeper understanding. Pre-Activities: None required. Additional Information: An e-workbook will be provided to all participants.
