NSBE and SHPE Student Organizations Partner with LADWP for Professional Development Event

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) hosted a valuable professional development opportunity on Monday, featuring representatives from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) for interviews and feedback.

From 6:30 to 9:30 PM in the Van Nuys room at the East Conference Center of the University Student Union, engineering students participated in one-on-one mock interviews with industry professionals. This three-hour event provided participants with personalized details on their interview techniques and resume presentation, along with the chance to get their professional headshots completed.

LADWP representatives offered detailed critiques and constructive suggestions to help students refine their professional profiles. Beyond interview practice, attendees received practical advice on professional attire and strategies for making positive impressions during job interviews.

This collaboration between our student organizations and industry professionals exemplifies our student’s commitment to their post-graduation success. The College of Engineering and Computer Science looks forward to seeing similar professional development initiatives in the future.
