CSUN Success Story: Speed, Precision and an Engineering Degree – Cole Wakim’s Formula for Success
Cole Wakim graduated from CSUN’s mechanical engineering program in 2024 and now races sprint cars at tracks nationwide, including the Turkey Night Grand Prix in Ventura. The 23-year-old uses his engineering background to understand car setup and mechanical systems that affect performance on dirt tracks.
Wakim transferred to CSUN from Moorpark College after professors there recommended the university’s hands-on engineering program. His senior design project on space manufacturing taught him teamwork skills he now uses with his racing crew. Currently working in construction for schedule flexibility, Wakim is pursuing professional racing while keeping his engineering career options open for the future.
