Move Your Content Day

The image is a promotional graphic for "Move Your Content Day." At the top, "Move" is written in bold red text, while "Fix" in black text is crossed out with a red "X." There are five document icons: video, DOC, PPT, PDF, and image files moving/archiving in an open box labeled “Box” in blue text. Move Your Content Day

October 3, 2024

The CSU Chancellor’s Office Academic Technology Services and the Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) is hosting Fix Your Content Day, a 24-hour global commitment to create accessible and inclusive digital learning content.

Move Your Content

At CSUN, our goal for the day is simple: move or archive unused content to your Box folder.

Make a positive impact on inclusive learning for all students through Canvas Ally.

Wait, How Does That Help?

The first step to making instructional materials accessible is figuring out what needs to be done. By archiving content that you’re not using this semester, when you are ready to take more action on accessibility, it will help you focus on current files and get better use out of your Course Accessibility Report.

What is Ally?

Ally is a tool that benefits all students by improving the accessibility and usability of course materials. Ally seamlessly integrates into your LMS and automatically checks the accessibility of course content, provides feedback and step-by-step instructions for how to remediate specific accessibility barriers, and gives students access to alternative formats of course content. Learn more about Canvas Ally.

Ally provides you feedback on the accessibility of your course files with the colored dials that appear next to your file names (Red, Orange, Light Green, and Dark Green). These indicators are only visible to instructors within a course.

What If I Want to Fix Content?

Motivated to do more? After moving or archiving unused content, the next two accessibility steps are:

Attend Training

On Move Your Content Day from 10 to 11:30am, UDC will hold our popular Flyers & Infographics Accessibility live workshop. Join the UDC team on Zoom to learn more and have your questions answered.

Image Descriptions

Ensure images have meaningful alt text. In your Course Accessibility Report, scroll down to Remaining issues, look for an item that reads “The image does not have a description,” and select that link. Select each image in the list and either add a description that captures the visual information, or mark the image as decorative. Best Practices for Accessible Images has more tips.

Accessibility is a Journey

You can’t build accessible content overnight. It’s making progress one step at a time. One small moment of victory propelling you forward to the next. Accessibility is a constant journey, not an end destination. Learn more about Accessibility and Universal Design.

Accessibility is for everyone.
