Family Focus Resource Center Events

This Fall, Family Focus Resource Center proudly hosted its first Special Education Fairs in the Antelope Valley and Santa Clarita Valley in partnership with the AV SELPA and SCV SELPA. At both events, families learned about special education, preparing for their IEP meetings, school-level transitions, and behavior-support strategies. Parents and children also participated in hands-on activities, creating their own IEP binders, “All About Me” student information pages, and visual schedules or social stories to support their children’s success.

VALOR (Voices, Action, Leadership, Organized for Resilience) brought together Latino families, self-advocates, professionals, and community partners to strengthen leadership, foster engagement, and advocate for the rights of Latinos with intellectual and developmental disabilities. FFRC’s Diana Chulak was honored to be invited to present at the VALOR convening conference this September, hosted by the Family Resource Centers Network of California and Eastern Los Angeles Regional Center, where she led an interactive presentation on “Navigating Difficult Conversations.”

Join us at Family Focus Resource Center’s All Abilities Resource Fair on November 7th from 11 am to 2 pm at the Northridge Center at the USU to connect with the community, access a wealth of disability resources, and secure professional services! This event is dedicated to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone feels valued.
