Operetta is a theatrical genre that blends elements of opera and musical theater, characterized by lighthearted themes, spoken dialogue, catchy melodies, and comic or romantic plots. Emerging in the 19th century, it became especially popular in Europe, with notable contributions from French, Austrian, and British composers. Operetta influenced early musical theater and remained popular into the early 20th century before giving way to modern musicals. Today, many of these works are still performed for their charm, humor, and enduring melodies. Join us for an evening of beautiful music both old and new.
