Join the CSUN Institute for Sustainability and Food Forward for a morning of care and community in one of CSUN’s most beloved landmarks — the Orange Grove (between Zelzah & Lindley, east of The Soraya). Planted in the 1940s, this five-acre grove along Nordhoff Street is home to more than 400 Valencia orange trees, one of the last remaining groves that once covered the San Fernando Valley.
During the event, volunteers will help maintain and prune the trees, keeping the grove healthy for future harvests. The oranges grown here don’t just stay on campus — they help stock the CSUN Food Pantry and support food pantries across Los Angeles County, providing fresh fruit to neighbors in need.
It’s a great way to earn volunteer hours, get outdoors, and make a tangible impact right here on campus.
