Join the CSUN Urban Forestry Project in a conversation with CSUN Professor and Author, Dr. Amanda Baugh. She will explore the overlooked environmental practices of Spanish-speaking Catholics in the U.S., highlighting how home-based conservationist measures, such as backyard gardening and limiting waste, challenge mainstream expectations of environmentalism. Her latest book reveals that these communities, often invisible in dominant environmental narratives, are not just passive victims but active environmental stewards guided by family traditions and deep connections to the land. The discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Sheila Steinberg, Director of the Institute for Sustainability.
