57th Annual Africana Studies Week

November 2 at 1:00 pm to November 4 at 3:00 pm

Built by Legacy, Driven by Purpose

November 2–4, 2026 | California State University, Northridge (CSUN)

Join the CSUN Department of Africana Studies for the 57th Annual Africana Studies Week, a three-day celebration honoring the legacy, leadership, scholarship, and activism that continue to shape Africana Studies and the Black community.

This year’s theme, “Built by Legacy, Driven by Purpose,” honors the generations of scholars, leaders, activists, students, and community members who have shaped Africana Studies and laid the foundation we stand on today.

As we celebrate the 57th Annual Africana Studies Week, the theme recognizes the importance of preserving our history and heritage while continuing to move forward with intention. It reminds us that our legacy is not only something we inherit; it is something we carry forward through scholarship, leadership, service, and commitment to our communities.
