CJS Book Talk

The Department of Criminology and Justice Studies is proud to host its first Book Talk, featuring our own Dr. Eric Gamino.

Join us in recognizing his accomplishment by celebrating his recent book publication, Enforcing Order on the Border! This event is a great opportunity to to learn about how certain elements within the Criminal Justice System converge with research as Gamino’s book:

  • Explores how law-enforcement agencies justify their authority in a region marked by political tension, constant movement and uncertainty.
  • Highlights the lived experiences of both law enforcement officials and immigrants, showing that enforcement isn’t only about security but also about managing people, space, and belonging.
  • Demonstrates how racialized assumptions, particularly toward Latino immigrants, drive surveillance and control, reinforcing systematic discrimination.

Date: Tuesday, March 24, 2025
Time: 3:00 P.M. to 4:15 P.M.
Location: Whitsett Room (Sierra Hall 451)
