CSUN Faculty and Alumni Meet Olympic Champion and IOC Delegate to Advance Cultural and Athletic Exchange
On August 25, 2025, the China Institute at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) welcomed Kun (Justin) Hou, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Commission for Culture and Olympic Heritage, for a campus meeting with Mr. Colin Donahue, CSUN’s Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. The discussion focused on fostering cultural and athletic partnerships in the lead-up to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
Together, they explored meaningful ways the university community could support the Olympic Movement through cultural programming, educational exchanges, and sports-heritage initiatives. The conversation highlighted opportunities to align Olympic values with CSUN’s strengths in teaching, research, and community engagement.
Following the campus meeting, CSUN professors and alumni hosted a special community gathering with honored guests Kun (Justin) Hou and Jingyu (Joy) Wu, a two-time Olympic gold medalist in women’s taekwondo (Beijing 2008 and London 2012) 49 Kg level. The event featured thoughtful dialogue on how academic institutions can collaborate with the Olympic Movement to promote mutual understanding, inspire future generations, and celebrate excellence in both culture and sport. It underscored the vital role universities and alumni networks play in bridging education, culture, and athletics—reinforcing the spirit of international friendship and Olympic ideals.

2025 年八月二十五日，加州州立大学北岭分校（CSUN）中国研究院欢迎国际奥委会文化与奥林匹克遗产委员会委员侯琨先生到访校园，并与学校副校长兼首席财务官Colin Donahue 举行会谈。双方围绕在迈向2028年洛杉矶奥运会期间建立文化与体育合作伙伴关系展开讨论，探讨高校社区如何通过文化项目、教育交流与体育遗产倡议切实支持奥林匹克运动。与会者还就如何把奥林匹克价值观与CSUN在教学、科研与社区服务方面的优势相结合，开展务实合作进行了深入交流。 校园会谈之后，CSUN的多位教授与校友举办了一场特别的社区交流活动，嘉宾包括侯琨以及两届奥运会女子跆拳道-49公斤级冠军（2008年北京、2012年伦敦）吴静钰。与会者分享了各自的观点，并就学术共同体如何与奥林匹克运动合作，以促进相互理解、激励下一代、并在文化与体育领域弘扬卓越展开了深入讨论。活动凸显了高校与校友网络在联结教育、文化与体育方面的重要作用，进一步彰显了国际友谊精神与奥林匹克价值观。
