Congratulations to Melissa Basura

Congratulations to Melissa Basura, a senior and a double major in Religious Studies and Psychology for her research presentation at the Sunrise Symposium on August 7, 2026! This summer, Melissa was selected to be part of CSUN’s Sunrise Summer Undergraduate Research Initiative for Scholarly Excellence Program. During this intensive eight-week fellowship, she developed her research skills under the direct mentorship of Professor Claire White, which culminated in a presentation at the Sunrise Symposium on August 7, 2026. Her goal is to be a Professor. Present to cheer her on were Professor Claire White, her mentor, Xochitl Alvizo, Chair of Religious Studies, and Dean Kent Baxter from the College of Humanities. President Erika Beck also made an appearance!
