By Flor Striffolino
The Mike Curb College is pleased to welcome two new faculty members. The Department of Music has appointed Dr. Stephanie Reyes, who will lead the Northridge Singers and teach choral methods and conducting as Director of Choral Studies. Dr. Reyes is a dynamic choral conductor, vocalist, and GRAMMY-nominated music educator, recognized for her inclusive, multidisciplinary approach to music-making. The Department of Art and Design has appointed Aaron Daly as an Assistant Professor of Animation. Professor Daly has been a Lecturer at CSUN since 2021 and brings 14 years of industry experience to the classroom.
Previously, Dr. Reyes served as Visiting Director of Choral Studies at New Mexico State University, where she directed three ensembles and taught core choral education courses. She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from Texas Tech University, where she conducted multiple choirs and co-taught classes in conducting and music education. A passionate advocate for access and innovation, Dr. Reyes has taught K–12 music literacy and vocal music in Austin, Texas, and is an active clinician and presenter, sharing her expertise on adolescent tone development and reimagining concert experiences at major music education conventions.

When asked what she’s looking forward to as a new faculty member at CSUN, Dr. Reyes stated, “I am most excited about the concerts me and my students will create together! I look forward to collaborating with colleagues across the Music Department to enrich the choral experience and foster meaningful connections. My vision is to nurture the choirs at CSUN into a one-of-a-kind space of excellence where both music majors and non-majors feel inspired, challenged, and welcomed. I am eager to build a vibrant community where every student can thrive and share in the joy of singing.”

Assistant Professor Aaron Daly is a virtual production professional with over 14 years of development experience with Unreal Engine, a 3D computer graphics game engine and creation tool. His career highlights include leading teams of artists on LED volume projects and holding roles such as Virtual Production Supervisor at FuseFX and Senior Artist at MSG Sphere. As a lecturer at CSUN, Daly developed and taught Unity-based curricula to empower students from artistic backgrounds to master real-time tools.
When asked about what he’s most excited about in his new role at CSUN, Professor Daly said, “I’m truly looking forward to being an animation professor at CSUN. My main goal is to train and guide students, giving them a leg up by teaching the newest tools and technologies. I believe that by focusing on current industry practices, I can help prepare them for successful careers. It’s a great opportunity for me to not only share my knowledge but also to learn and grow alongside my students in such a dynamic field.”
