Accessibility Skills for Students, Support for Faculty
a11y+ is a program at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) that brings together students and faculty from computer science, visual design, humanities, and other fields to advance digital accessibility through training, research, and services.
Student Summer Program
This summer, in a joint project with a11y+ and the CSUN Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub, Academic Technology will utilize the talents of CSUN students from a11y+ to assist the University in preparing for the changes to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) that will take effect in April 2026. The students will commence their summer with intensive training in accessible technology, focusing on document remediation.
The students will support Academic Technology in enhancing instructional materials for courses that will be significantly affected by the upcoming ADA changes. The project collaborates with Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES) and the National Center on Deafness (NCOD) to encourage CSUN students with disabilities to participate in the program.
