DESCRIPTION:In honor of CSUN Disability Awareness Month and World Mental Health Day\nThe Disability Studies Minor presents THE PAINTED BRAIN PROJECT\nThursday\, October 8\, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the University Bookstore Lawn\nIn celebration of World Mental Health Day\, The Painted Brain Project asks\, “What is your mental health moment?” Join us on the lawn in front of the Campus Bookstore to make art that will become part of the growing online quilt to honor our lived mental health experience. Or Submit Online HERE. The virtual quilt will be housed on the Disability Studies homepage. Join us! \nSnacks and art supplies provided! While you’re there\, learn more about Disability Studies\, Painted Brain\, and University Counseling Services. \nThe Painted Brain Project is an alliance between the minor in Disability Studies and Painted Brain\, an organization dedicated to using arts\, advocacy\, and enterprise through community-based solutions\, to address mental health challenges and social injustice. \nPainted Brain is a peer-run\, majority BIPOC women-led 501(c)(3) behavioral health provider in Los Angeles. Using arts\, advocacy\, and enterprise\, the organization develops community-based solutions to address mental health challenges and social injustice for people impacted by poverty and incarceration.
