SUMMARY:Guest Artist Recital - Alexander Agate\, piano
DESCRIPTION:Guest Artist Recital – Alexander Agate\, piano\nMonday October 13th 2025 at 7:30 pm \nShigemi Matsumoto Recital Hall\, $10 – $22 \nAlexander Agate is launching our CSUN Piano Alumni Series with this recital. A recent Grand Prize winner of the 2025 Thomas F. Hulbert International Piano Competition at the University of Maryland (https://www.hulbertinstitute.org/2025-competition#sZhDzp)\, he is performing an exciting virtuoso program\, exploring the grand romantic style of two composers whose music has been awaiting their due revival: the French composer Florent Schmitt (1870-1958) whose music has been praised for the “union of French clarity and German strength\,” and the Polish pianist and composer Moriz Rosenthal (1862-1946)\, one of last illustrious pupils of Franz Liszt\, a brilliant virtuoso of the Golden Age of piano\, whose music is being rediscovered today.  Dr. Agate is at the forefront of this movement as he has been commissioned to make his debut recording album of the music by this composer as part of the prize from the 2024 Sicily International Piano Festival & Competition. The recording\, commissioned by the Italian Dynamic record label is to take place this November. Some Rosenthal compositions will receive their premieres both on the October 13 CSUN concert stage as well as on the upcoming recording. \n  \n  \n\nPROGRAM \n\nPrélude ………… Moriz Rosenthal (1862-1946) \nOmbres\, Op. 64 ………… Florent Schmitt (1870-1958) \nI. J’entends dans le lointain \nII. Mauresque \nIII. Cette ombre\, mon image … \nCarnaval de Vienne ………… Moriz Rosenthal \nINTERMISSION \nPapillons ………… Moriz Rosenthal \nFaust – Fantasy ………… Moriz Rosenthal \nRomanze ………… Moriz Rosenthal \nVariations uber ein eigenes Thema ………… Moriz Rosenthal \n\n_______________________________ \n\nLearn More about the Artist: ALEXANDER AGATE\n\nSuggested Parking via Kiosks in Lot B1\nTICKETS: $10 to $22
