The similar experiences we share with the families we serve propel us to be creative and work harder to ensure that they feel empowered on this journey. Our staff is all at different stages of their own journey\, and our FFRC families appreciate that we are learning with them\, and their trust and comfort are at the core of our relationships. Our quest started 11 years ago when staff identified the need for families to have a day where they can come and feel welcomed\, learn about disability resources\, and secure professional services\, all in one place. Having a profound understanding of connection and belonging\, the staff was obviously up for the challenge\, and our first resource fair was an overwhelming success! This year marks our 11th year of providing a day of community\, connection\, and a sense of belonging for our families and individuals with disabilities. Our fairs are\ntypically comprised of 75-80 vendors\, entertainment\, and fun for kids and adults! We depend on our exhibitors to ensure that families and their children have a day of\nlearning and fun. Please join us in honoring our families and individuals with disabilities by becoming an exhibitor at this important event. Not only will you be able to promote your business or agency\, but you will be providing valuable resources that will help families build their resilience! SUMMARY:Dr. Hongshan Shao and 10 graduate students in college of Education attended The Sino-US Youth Mental Health Development Forum held in Beijing Foreign Studies University
DESCRIPTION:The forum focuses on adolescent mental health issues which may be impacted by factors such as resilience\, cultural diversity and inclusivity\, with the goal to prevent and treat mental health issues among adolescents and build a community with a shared future for mankind. The feedback from Dr. Shao is the following. This forum provided a valuable platform for students to engage in cross-cultural dialogue and explore contemporary issues in youth mental health. Throughout the event\, students attended various seminars\, exchanged ideas with peers and professionals from both countries\, and gained a deeper understanding of global mental health challenges. They also presented at the forum to share and exchange the ideas based on their own clinical experience and counseling training in the program. Witnessing the students’ growth and engagement was deeply rewarding and reaffirmed the importance of cross-cultural exposure in their professional development. \nStudents feedback include the following: these experiences have broadened my perspective\, reinforcing my commitment to integrating global perspectives into my teaching and research. This trip has also enhanced my career development by motivating me to seek further international collaborations and incorporate more innovative practices into my work as a counselor educator. Overall\, this trip provided a rich blend of academic\, cultural\, and technological experiences that greatly enhanced both the students’ and my learning and global perspectives. Students recognized China’s effort in strengthening access to mental health\, treatment\, and case management\, they believe that implementing mental health monitoring\, prevention programs\, and psychological services in schools and institutions will benefit student’s wellness.

SUMMARY:The Business School at Huangzhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) and the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics at CSUN\, 17 CSUN students finished one 3-credit class in China.
DESCRIPTION:In the program\, the CSUN and HUST students studied managerial accounting class side by side\, work together on team projects and presentations. They visited two corporates\, went for sightseeing\, participated in several cross-cultural activities and friendship games. The CSUN-HUST summer program provides a valuable and unforgettable experience to the students. Students tried to understand the economic and cultural factors that influence businesses environment and practices in China. They would be able to compare differences in business practices and economic environment between China and the US. Also\, students developed critical thinking\, analytical and communication skills relevant to professional development in an international context. This program would help forge long-lasting friendship\, network and future collaborations between the US. and the Chinese students. The HUST-CSUN 2024 summer program is off to a good start for the international cultural and educational exchange.
