SUMMARY:Affordable Learning Superheroes Save the Day and Your Budget
DESCRIPTION:In a survey of CSUN students who participated in AL$\, nearly 70% said they delay buying their required course textbooks\, while 35% of students forgo buying textbooks due to cost. As libraries face limitations in purchasing course materials due to budget cuts and the evolving licensing landscape\, students will be navigating even greater challenges in accessing the resources they need to succeed. This may mean the difference between graduating on time or dropping out. \nNow\, more than ever\, we must think creatively to support our students with affordable course materials. Faculty at CSUN have already saved students over $4\,000\,000\, and this spring\, we are honoring faculty champions\, including CSUN’s first ever Zero Cost Pathway program\, Health Administration\, Chicano/a Studies\, and many other departments. \nJoin us for a lunch & learn event\, where you will be able to:$ \n\nHear from students how textbook costs have impacted their academic and personal lives\nMeet some faculty who have incorporated low to zero cost materials into their courses without compromising quality\nLearn about research\, advocacy\, and grant opportunities to support textbook affordability\n\nFaculty Showcase Presenters\n\n\nGrishma Bhavsar\, Professor of Health Sciences\nJennifer Newman$$Associate Professor of Health Sciences\n\nSpecial Note: In recognition of LAUSD spring break\, this will be a children-friendly event!
