SUMMARY:The Unexpected Path: Staying Curious in the Face of Uncertainty
DESCRIPTION:Your Career Doesn’t Have to Follow a Straight Line\nWhat if the key to a fulfilling career isn’t having everything figured out\, but being open to the possibilities along the way? \nMary Knobler\nJoin us for an inspiring conversation with CSUN alumna Mary Knobler as she shares how curiosity\, adaptability\, and a willingness to embrace unexpected opportunities helped shape a career she never imagined. \nMary’s journey was anything but conventional. After stepping away from college\, she returned to complete her degree while working and went on to build a successful career in finance\, a field she never expected to enter. Her story is a reminder that career paths rarely follow a straight line and that sometimes the most meaningful opportunities emerge when we are willing to explore the unknown. \nWhether you’re considering your next steps\, exploring new possibilities\, or simply curious about where life’s unexpected turns might lead\, this conversation offers valuable insights and inspiration for every stage of your journey. \nAbout Our Guest Speaker\nMary Knobler is a 1993 CSUN graduate from the Department of Psychology who spent nearly 40 years in the finance industry\, including 30 years at Oaktree Capital Management\, where she served as Managing Director and Co-Head of Trading. Her professional journey reflects the importance of lifelong learning\, embracing change\, and remaining open to opportunities beyond one’s original plans. \nEvent Details\nDate: Thursday\, October 29\, 2026\nTime: 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM\nLocation: Whitsett Room\, Sierra Hall\, Room 451 \nCSUN students\, faculty\, staff\, alumni\, and community members are welcome to attend. \nRequest Accommodations\nCommunication services (sign language interpreters\, note takers\, transcribers) are available for this event.
