DESCRIPTION:Join the CSUN Alumni Attorney Networking Group’s May meeting via Zoom to connect and learn with fellow Matador attorneys. \nDate: May 6\, 2026\nTime: 5:00 p.m.\nCost: Free\nVIA ZOOM \nZoom Link \nMeeting ID: 899 0171 6064 \nPasscode: 438425 \nRegister Here\nPresentation: Primer on Surrogacy \n \nMaya Shulman is the Principal Attorney and Owner of Shulman Family Law Group\, a boutique family law firm with offices in Calabasas and Santa Barbara\, California. With over two decades of legal experience\, she specializes in surrogacy\, adoptions\, and assisted reproductive technologies (ART)\, representing intended parents\, gestational carriers\, and donors in domestic and international fertility arrangements. \nMaya’s unique background combines both medical and legal expertise. Originally from Latvia\, she studied medicine at the Medical Academy in Latvia before immigrating to the United States. After earning her B.A. in Psychology from Brooklyn College (CUNY) in 1995\, she pursued her legal education at the University of West Los Angeles (UWLA) School of Law\, receiving her J.D. in 1999. Her medical training provides her with a distinctive advantage in understanding the science behind reproductive advancements\, enabling her to better serve her clients in complex family formation matters. \nIn addition to her practice\, Maya serves as an Adjunct Professor at UWLA School of Law\, where she teaches “Adoption and Surrogacy\,” believed to be the first course of its kind offered at a California law school. She has also been appointed as a Special Master in state and federal matters since 2010\, and is a frequent media guest and speaker on ART and family formation issues. \nMaya is admitted to practice in California\, Massachusetts\, the U.S. Supreme Court\, and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. \nThe Attorney Networking Group’s monthly meetings help build mutually beneficial social connections between fellow Matador attorney alumni. Increasing the potential for consultations and referrals\, our monthly meetings also feature continuing education credits and/or presentations by a guest speaker specifically tailored for practicing attorneys. Feel free to invite fellow Matador attorneys in your network to join.
