SUMMARY:Late Registration Begins\, Fall 2026
DESCRIPTION:Late Registration and Schedule Adjustment begin Monday\, Aug. 24\, 2026. It’s called “late” because classes have started\, but it’s perfectly fine to adjust your schedule as needed using online\, self-service registration. \nYou may add\, drop and swap classes\, and change the basis of grading online\, but what you can do depends on which week of classes we’re in. \n1st Week of Classes\nStarting with the first week of classes\, Aug. 24 through 30\, 2026: \n\nWait-listing is available through Sunday\, Aug. 30\, 11:59 p.m.\nNo permission is required to add classes except for restricted classes\, which always require permission.\nThe maximum load is 18 units for undergraduates and 16 units for graduate students. Check unit load exceptions.\nRepeating courses is permitted (started with your enrollment appointment).\nProrated refunds begin. Find refund information.\n\n2nd to 4th Week of Classes\nStarting with the second through the fourth week of classes\, Aug. 31 through Sept. 20: \n\nWait-listing is no longer available.\nPermission numbers are required to add ALL classes through Nov. 13.\nThe last day to qualify for a partial refund due to a drop in academic load below 6.1 units is Friday\, Sept. 11.\nThe last day for graduate students to drop classes online is Friday\, Sept. 11.\nThe last day for undergraduates to drop or change grading basis using self-service registration is Sunday\, Sept. 20.\n\nTo drop or swap classes or change grading basis after the deadlines above requires formal approval. Find procedures and forms at Late Schedule Changes. \nPlease make every effort to finalize your schedule by Sept. 20\, the end of the fourth week\, when recorded enrollments are considered official. \nDropping/Swapping After the Deadlines\nFormal approval is required to drop (withdraw from) classes as follows: \n\nGraduate students: After the third week\, formal approval is required to drop or swap classes. Visit Graduate Student Forms and select “Late Change in Academic Schedule.”\nUndergraduate students: After the fourth week\, formal approval is required to drop or swap classes or change the grading basis.
