SUMMARY:A Stitch & Glitch in Time
DESCRIPTION:January 20 – March 12\, 2026\nReception: Thursday\, January 29 from 5:00 – 7:30pm\n \nA Stitch & Glitch in Time brings together thirteen Los Angeles-based artists who use textiles to explore technology\, fashion\, and collective histories. Los Angeles has a long history in textile production\, both for industrial use and artistic expression. The processes and materials utilized by these artists embody this long and complex history – highlighting how textiles can simultaneously be highly personal objects while revealing the larger economic and social circumstances they were created within. \n  \nExhibition Artists: Fafnir Adamites\, Ekta Aggarwal\, Diane Briones Williams\, Lavialle Campbell\, Mimi Haddon\, Lorenzo Hurtado Segovia\, Ahree Lee\, Aubrey Longley-Cook\, Kayla Mattes\, Minga Opazo\, Aneesa Shami Zizzo\, Irene Georgia Tsatsos\, and Jenny Yurshansky. \n  \nThis exhibition was curated by Holly Jerger\, CSUN Art Galleries Director. The exhibition is made possible through the generous support of the Mike Curb College of Arts\, Media\, and Communication and Louise Lewis. Additional support provided by the Instructionally Related Activities Committee and Arts Council for CSUN. \n  \nThis exhibition is part of Handwork 2026\, Craft in America’s nationwide semiquincentennial collaboration showcasing the importance of the handmade and celebrating the diversity of craft that defines America. \n  \nFree Admission

SUMMARY:CSU's Got Talent | Somebody Should Do Something: How Anyone Can Help Create Social Change—The CSU Edition
DESCRIPTION:Location: Online via Zoom; Connection details provided upon registration\n\nFacilitated By:\nDr. Alex Madva\nAlex Madva is Professor of Philosophy\, Director of the California Center for Ethics and Policy\, and Co-Director of the Digital Humanities Consortium at Cal Poly Pomona. He received his BA in Philosophy and English at Tufts University and his MA and Ph.D. from Columbia University. \nDr. Madva’s research and teaching inform our understanding of the mind and the ethics and politics of discrimination\, bias\, and social change. He has run numerous workshops and presentations on bias\, impostor feelings\, Title IX\, ideological diversity\, and the importance of intergroup cooperation. \n\nAdditionally\, Dr. Madva has written for venues including The New York Times\, and his research has been profiled in outlets including Vox\, The Good Men Project\, and La Nación. He has also been interviewed across a variety of platforms\, including local Fox News in Chicago\, Talk Radio Europe\, Houston Public Radio\, Sirius XM\, and a variety of podcasts.\n  \nDescription:\nChanging the world is difficult. One reason is that the most important problems\, like climate change\, racism\, and poverty\, are structural. They emerge from our collective practices: laws\, economies\, history\, culture\, norms\, and built environments. The dilemma is that there is no way to make structural change without individual people making different—more structure-facing—decisions. In this presentation by Somebody Should Do Something co-author Alex Madva\, learn how we\, as CSU administrators\, employees\, and faculty\, can connect our personal choices and social roles to structural change\, and why individual choices matter\, though not in the way people usually think. \n  \n\nRegister Here To Join \nIf you are interested in registering for this session or any future session of CSU’s Got Talent\, please use the “Register with Email” button on the landing page to register.
