Teaching in the Age of AI: Designing Learning That Builds Critical Thinking – Part II

April 17 at 10:00 am to 11:30 am

Virtual Event Virtual Event
a CSUN professor teaching AI in class.

Hosted by Dr. Deniz Marti

Part II is an applied, hands-on session where participants redesign their own assignments using the principles introduced in Part I. Through breakout discussions and guided activities, participants will transform existing assignments into AI-resilient learning tasks that promote critical thinking, metacognition, and responsible AI use, exploring AI-integrated active learning strategies.

Participants are encouraged to bring one assignment from a course they teach, which they will revise during the workshop.

Activities include:

• Identifying assignments vulnerable to “cognitive erosion”

• Redesigning assignments to require reasoning and reflection

• Integrating AI as a learning partner rather than a shortcut

• Peer discussion and feedback in breakout rooms
