Dr. Omar Ruvalcaba is a professor of psychology whose work explores the experiences of underrepresented students in educational settings, with a particular emphasis on mental health, culture, and equity in higher education. His current research focuses on three areas: the experiences of first-generation undergraduate and doctoral Latinx students, Armenian students’ experiences as first-generation undergraduates, and women in gaming. Through scholarship, mentorship, and community-engaged work, he seeks to understand how systems of support can promote thriving, well-being, and success for marginalized individuals across the academic pipeline.
