Grade of “W” Assigned, Fall 2026

September 22

Fall Term icon, Student Academic Calendar

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, students will receive a grade of “W” if requests to drop one or more classes are approved.

What is a Grade of “W”?

The grade of “W” means you were permitted to drop a course after the 20th weekday of fall or spring instruction. You requested and received formal approval to drop. While the “W” is not used to calculate your GPA, it will appear on your permanent record.

Precautions for Reducing Units

Reducing the number of enrolled units may affect your eligibility for campus housing, financial aid, veterans education benefits, international student status and more.

  • A Financial Aid student who reduces the number of units or completely withdraws (including medical withdrawal) may be subject to award reduction, cancellation or REPAYMENT.
  • In addition, reducing units or withdrawing from courses may impact Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).

Before changing your schedule, review the Information Regarding Potential Impact of Change in Academic Schedule and contact the appropriate offices for guidance.
