From Here to Career Alumni Meet-Up

CSUN’s From Here to Career Program presents our Alumni Meet-Up Series:
Alumni Meet Ups serves as an opportunity for CSUN student employees to learn from alumni about how they have leveraged the skills they learned in their student jobs to their professional work post-graduation.

Dennise Garcia (CSUN Class of ’21 B.A. Psychology)
Biography:
“Hello, my name is Dennise and I am an alumnus of CSUN. In Spring 2021, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Currently, I am enrolled in the last semester of my master’s program at CSUN in Counseling with an emphasis in College Counseling and Student Services. As an undergrad student, I served as an orientation leader for the New Student Orientation (NSO). In my role as an orientation leader, I guided new students through campus tours to ease their transition to CSUN and provided campus resources. In addition to that, I also served as the creative director of the Multicultural Psychological Association (MPA). As part of my responsibilities, I answered general questions, posted campus resources on our social media accounts, and presented workshops for CSUN students. In addition, I served as a peer educator with the Blues Project, conducting classroom visits and tabling to raise mental health awareness. As a graduate student, I am currently working at two different sites. As a graduate assistant at CSUN’s DREAM Center, my responsibilities include offering workshops and helping undocumented and mixed-status students apply to graduate schools. I also serve as a transfer mentor at East Los Angeles College (ELAC), providing support and guidance to students who are transferring.”

NOTE: This event is only open to students and supervisors currently enrolled in the FHTC program for the 2024-25 academic year!
