Permission Required to Add Classes, Spring 2027

To add classes from Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2027 and on, you must request a permission number from your professor or the department offering the course. Not sure how to add with permission? Visit Registration FAQ: Permission Numbers.

During Weeks 2 through 4 of Classes

Starting Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2027:

• Wait-listing is no longer available.
• Permission is required to add all classes. Request a permission number from the instructor and add online using the self-service registration system through the end of Week 12.

Last Day to Drop/Swap Classes

• Graduate students have until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9, to drop or swap* classes online. After that, formal approval is required. See Last Day to Drop, Graduate Students, Spring 2027.
• Undergraduate and second bachelor’s students can continue to drop* or swap classes and change grading basis** online through Monday, Feb. 15. See also Last Day to Drop, Undergraduate Students, Spring 2027.

If possible, please finalize your schedule by Feb. 15, the end of Week 4, when recorded enrollments are considered official.

* Before dropping, review the potential impact of reducing the number of enrolled units.
