Temporary Delay in 2026-2027 Financial Aid Processing

Beginning April 26, 2026, the U.S. Department of Education (Federal Student Aid) is implementing updates to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). These changes impact all CSU campuses and many institutions nationwide.

What This Means:

• Processing of new or updated FAFSA information submitted on or after April 26, 2026, will be delayed.
• Applicants may not see updates to their financial aid status, checklist items, or required documents during this time.
• New financial aid offers for the 2026–27 academic year will be temporarily paused.

Financial Aid Applicants Should:

• Continue to monitor their CSUN Portal and campus email for updates.
• Submit any outstanding financial aid requirements as soon as possible to avoid additional delays once processing resumes.
• If the 2026-2027 FAFSA was submitted prior to April 26, 2026, no additional action is required at this time.

Estimated Timeline:

• April 26, 2026: New FAFSA processing takes effect; processing pause begins
• Mid-May: System updates delivered
• Mid-June: Processing expected to resume at campuses

Once system updates are available, we will resume processing as quickly as possible and begin providing financial aid offers.
