Taller, platica y pán: Alma López’s Virgén Art as Decolonial Praxis

Join the University Student Union and the Department of Chicana/o Studies as we host world-renowned Queer Chicana artist Alma López in a part lecture, part hands-on workshop exploring the genealogy of her work that has reclaimed the traditional Catholic image of the Virgén de Guadalupe. Make your voice heard as you create your own decolonial art, bridging Latinx Heritage Month, LGBTQIA2S+ History Month and Día de la Raza (a decolonial commemoration of indigenous resistance celebrated on Sunday, Oct. 12).

Don’t miss this chance to contribute to a legacy of activism, education, and community!

Do you require interpreting services? Please submit an Interpreting Services Request Form at least seven business days prior to the event.
